On this particular tour:
You will have the opportunity to visit a dance project in Hout Bay. You can experience township life with Fairtrade in Tourism accredited AWOL on a bicycle tour in Masiphumlele. Participate in a cook up with a local family in Knysna; learn about the typical local dishes, the intriguing history and local culture. The adventurous can join Fairtrade in Tourism accredited  Stormsriver Adventures; a professional adventure and activity company based in the heart of the Tsitsikamma Forest.

TOUR INFORMATION

Day 1: Cape Town – Cape Town
After your arrival at Cape Town International Airport, one of our representatives can meet you, hand you your travel documentation, and assist you in completing the car hire formalities. They will also explain to you what is in your travel documentation with vouchers, maps etc. Your hosts at your accommodation will be able to assist you in deciding where to go in and around Cape Town. If time permits, then you can go immediately to the V&A Waterfront and take a sunset cruise (weather permitting)

Day 2: Cape Town – Peninsula & Townships
After breakfast, take a drive around the scenic Cape Peninsula. Arrive in Hout Bay and take a boat trip to Duiker Island to see the seals. Drive over the spectacular Chapman’s Peak Drive to Noordhoek and on to Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope. Return along the False Bay coastline to Boulders beach and visit the 3 000 strong colony of African Penguins. Returning via Stunning Chapmans Peak through the fishing village of Hout Bay.  Continue to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and enjoy a quiet walk through the indigenous vegetation.

Day 3: Cape Town – day at leisure
Take this day (weather permitting) to do some shopping, get some rest and tan on the beach or if the weather is having a bad day – go to the aquarium at the Waterfront or go see a movie. There is much to do and see in the centre of town from antique shopping to local craft markets and some wonderful offbeat cafes on Long Street. Go to Exclusive Books, sit in their coffee shop, and submerge yourself in their books. Go to Robben Island, and of course, not to be missed – Table Mountain. Go to one of the delis and buy a small picnic lunch, and find a quiet spot on the Mountain to feed your soul, taking in the Majestic city below.

Day 4: Cape Town – Montagu/ Robertson (ca. 190 km)
Enjoy the drive from Cape Town, travelling through our world famous winelands before arriving in Montagu, the town best known for its soothing, healthy hot springs. After your drive, you may wish to “take to the Waters”, relaxing in the hot springs, Gateway to the Klein Karoo and Route 62, (the longest wine route in the world) the charming, historic village of Montagu is the "Mountain Mecca" of the Western Cape. Montagu, the Jewel on Route 62, is only two hours drive from Cape Town and the alternative way to travel the Garden Route. Also home to the world famous tractor rides – ask your guesthouse for additional information

Day 5 & 6 : Montagu – De Rust / Oudtshoorn (Klein Karoo) (ca. 235 km)
Today you continue via the impressive Swartberg Pass to Oudtshoorn. Outdshoorn dubbed the “Ostrich Capital” of South Africa. Experience the world’s largest, flightless bird at the Ostrich Show Farms in Oudtshoorn. These birds are known throughout the world for their feathers, leather and meat. You can also ride an Ostrich - if you dare. Continue your trip to de Rust, where you overnight in unique and historical ox wagons. Spend the next 2 days exploring the area. Oudtshoorn is also home to the "shy 5" i.e. meerkats and other secretive critters In the afternoon there is time to relax, or you can have a look at the impressive Cango Caves. The Cango Caves, just one of the many natural wonders in the Little Karoo. Water, time and simple chemistry have combined, over hundreds of thousands of years, to create a magical display of carved caverns, corridors and dripstone formations deep within the Swartberg Mountain Range. Explore the peaceful area of de Rust and visit one of the many projects. You can hire a traditional Donkey Cart and participate on a guided tour into the little village and surrounding mountain area

Day 7: De Rust / Oudtshoorn –Knysna (Garden Route) (ca. 125 km)
Departing the Klein Karoo, you drive toward the Garden Route, where you will spend the next 3 days exploring the area. On your way,  you can stop at Knysna Elephant Sanctuary, here you find rescued elephants and learn about their behaviour, get close and personal.  Further down the road you will  pass the Bloukranz Bridge – home to the worlds highest bungee jump (216M).  Carry on to Knysna - the largest town on the Garden Route. Knysna is world Famous for its Oyster Festival and the Knysna Heads. The town nestles between the impressive Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean, with the world-renowned indigenous forests surrounding it.  Exploring the area, you will drive through Cape St. Francis, Storms River and Natures Valley and visiting the Tsitsikamma National park with its  famous hanging bridge. The adventurous can join FTTSA accredited Stormsriver Adventures; a professional adventure and activity company based in the heart of the Tsitsikamma Forest, on exclusive hiking trials and excursions into Tsitsikamma National Park.
Overnight Knysna

Day 8, 9: Knysna (Garden Route)
At the heart of Knysna is the 21 ha lagoon protected from the sea by the well-known sandstone Knysna "Heads". Well known for the unique combination of forest and sea and its great hikes through the immense and ancient forests, Knysna is a place of astounding beauty. The jagged coastline and the beautiful forest will impress you and you will be able to spot a variety of animals for example baboons and small antelope. You can explore the forest by foot or mountain bike or see the hidden beauty of the sea on a snorkelling or diving trip. In the afternoon you are welcomed to participate on a cook up dinner with a local family, situated  in the township next to Knysna. Discover the local dishes and receipes and enjoy the welcoming spirit of the family you are having dinner with.
Optional: You can choose to overnight with the local family or return back to your hotel after dinner.

Day 10: Knysna – Addo Elephant Park / Port Elizabeth (ca. 340 km)
After breakfast you depart for Addo National Park. After breakfast on your 2nd day, take the day and head off in the direction of Addo Elephant Park. You have time to visit the Addo Elephant Park and meet these interesting giants. Addo – world renowned for its large Elephant Population is the perfect place to meet the African Elephants.  Also home to a variety of other animals, Addo is always full of surprises. The park has more than 300 Elephants, which used to live in and around the Eastern Cape. These particular elephants feed on the leaves “The pink-flowered spekboom (Portulacaria Afra)”. Activities in the Park include hikes, horse trails, game drives and bird watching

Day 11: Addo Elephant Park / Port Elizabeth
Today you go for another game drive or exploring the area before your holiday ends. Port Elizabeth is a city situated in the Eastern Cape Province. The city is located on Algoa Bay, and is one of the major seaports in South Africa. Port Elizabeth, often shortened to "PE", and nicknamed "The Friendly City" or "The Windy City". Famous also for its long white beaches, horse rides and museums – Port Elizabeth has something for everybody.

Day 12 – END  (ca. 80 km)
After breakfast, return your car to the airport to connect with your onward travels
