TOUR INFORMATION
Day to day program: 12 days / 11 nights
1st day: Johannesburg - Pretoria(approx. 70km)
After arrival at Johannesburg International Airport (OR Tambo), you meet our local representative who will hand you your travel documents and explain the details to you. You can choose to be transferred or pick up your car and drive to your accommodation in Pretoria. After you are acclimatized you can explore the area.
2nd day: Pretoria – Makhado (approx.370km)
Depending on your tour choice your car will be delivered at your accommodation. You continue your way into Limpopo.
Optionally you can visit Zebediela Farm. Zebediela a seasonal farm that can be visited between (March and October) is a Faitrade certified Citrus Farm. A Fair Fruit Tourism project that aims to provide the Fairtrade Orange growers an alternative source of income, in this case via tourism. The workers themselves will be guiding you on their own orange tour and to learn about fair-trade orange production and to experience real life at the Estate. Have lunch and continue to Makhado.
You make your way to Makhado formerly (Louis Trichardt). The Town of Makhado is located on the N1 between South Africa and other neighbouring countries such as Botswana, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. You overnight 2 nights in Fairtrade in Tourism accredited Shiluvari Lakeside Lodge, in thatched chalets, all incorporating elements from local artists and crafters. On site there is a curio shop promoting crafts from area, promoting sustainable tourism. You can book a guided sunset cruise on the Levubu River where you meet up with hippos and crocodiles.
3rd day: Today you can go on a guided local artist tour; you visit the small little villages in the surrounding of Makhado. Get to know the Venda and Shangaan culture, famous for their multi culture arts and crafts. Meet local wood carvers, potters and textile weavers in their own villages. Or enjoy hiking cycling or relaxing in the beautiful scenery.
4th day Mapungubwe (approx 230km) Leave Makhado an travel to Mapungubwe Cultural Landscape; World Heritage Site (approx. 190km): This is the land of sandstone formations, mopane woodlands, brooding baobabs, ancient floodplains and unique riverine forests that form a dramatic black cloth for the wealth of animal life. Lots to do at Mapungubwe National park, where you overnight 2 nights
5th day Today you can participate on the Route of Lost Kingdoms which stretches from inside the gates of the Kruger National Park at the ancient stone wall site of Thulamela, follows a trail of myths and legends to the Mapungubwe World Heritage site and onwards to the small town of Alldays. You have the opportunity to explore this undiscovered region in the north of South Africa, bordering Botswana and Zimbabwe. Alternatively you can go on a heritage tour or do a Treetop Canopy walk among the riverine forest on a raised canopy walk that takes you to a hide over looking the Limpopo River.
6th Tzaneen (approx 294km)
In the morning after you wake up you can make your way to Tzaneen, the second largest town in the Limpopo situated at the foot of the imposing Wolkberg Mountains. It is an attractive subtropical garden town with a colourful profusion of indigenous and exotic flowers and vegetation. Spend 1 night in Tzaneen Country Lodge, the greenest hotel in Limpopo that is committed to eco-sustainability. Overnight in Eco-Friendly Hotel
7th & 8th day: Kruger National Park(approx 150km)
Continue your way in direction of Maruleng formerly (Hoedspruit) and stay 2nights in Pezulu tree houses. Located closer to the Kruger National Park’s Orpen Gate, offers you an unforgettable and unique Bushveld experience. Today you have the whole day to look for the Big 5; Rhino, Leopard, Lion, Elephant and Buffalo, in their natural environment. Or relax at the swimming pool and enjoy the roaring of the lions. Spend two nights in Kruger National Park or in a Bush lodge near the park.
8th today you can engulf in other interesting activities include trips to the Cheetah Breeding Project and Moholoholo Bird and Animal Rehabilitation Centre. White water river rafting as well as ferry cruises on the Blyde river can be arranged. This area is a paradise for birders all year round.
9th & 10th day: Panorama route –Numbi Gate Kruger National Park(approx. 290km)
Via the Panorama route with highlights as Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and God’s Window you drive to Numbi gate at the boarder of Kruger National Park. You overnight 2 nights in luxurious chalets in Phumulani Lodge. Phumulani Lodge is for 100% owned by Mduli Trust; an initiative of Chief MZ Mduli’s. Experience Phumulani; an extension of tribal culture to uplift standards of living of local community trough job creation.
11th day: Numbi Gate – Johannesburg & Soweto (approx. 420km) Today you leave for Gauteng and continue to you’re accommodation in Johannesburg. After acclimatizing you will be picked up for a guided tour into township Soweto. Do the tour on a bicycle or get driven around. See the house of Bishop Tutu and stroll over freedom square. You can enjoy a meal at one of the popular Shebeens. You can choose to spend the night at local guest house or get your transfer back to your accommodation in Johannesburg.
12th day: Johannesburg
Depending on your tour choice you are transferred back to or drive to Johannesburg International Airport (OR Tambo) for your flight home or your next destination.

Overnight at adjacent to the Kruger National Park is the initiative of the late chief of the Mdluli community. Stay at Fairtrade in Tourism accredited Shiluvari Lakeside lodge and eco-friendly Tzaneen Country Lodge. On this trip you have the opportunity to visit Fairtrade accredited Zebediela citrus farm. You particiapte on a guided tour into Soweto, in Makhado you can go on a sunset cruise on the Levubu River on guided local artist tour organized by local community operator Ribolla Tourism, meet the crafters and artists .
