This itinerary is designed so that it is possible to camp almost every day, it is also possible to camp on some days and spend others in lodges or do the whole route accommodated. We will be glad to advise you as to what we feel will suit your needs best.

Includes: Meet and Greet in Windhoek, extended route descriptions. Acommodated: 7 night’s Bed and Breakfast, and 6 nights room only. A tent can be arranged for 60pp. activities as per itinerary. Excludes: Car Hire, Flights, Entry fees for National Parks and Toll ways, luggage service/portage, optional excursions and tours and extra meals. This itinerary can realistically be completed in a sedan car we would recommend either a 4x4 or Pick-Up Truck (Bakkie), as the added ground clearance makes driving much safer.

Would you like to sit around the tribal fire sharing in the traditional meal and listening to the tales told by village elders of days gone by?

DAY TO DAY PROGRAM 14 days/ 13 nights Day 1: Windhoek Arriving Hosea Kutako International Airport in Windhoek one of our representatives will meet you and assist you to the car hire desk at the airport. You will complete the formalities of your car hire before beginning your self-drive journey into Namibia – the land of contrasts. Optional A city tour of Windhoek is well worth the time; here you will be able to see the Germanic influence from the days of the German occupation of Namibia.This city tour includes a visit to Katutura the old apartheid township of Windhoek. Today Katutura is home to about 60% of Windhoek’s population. Visit Penduka Crafts to see the exquisite hand made crafts by locals.
Overnight Bed and Breakfast Windhoek
Day 2: Windhoek - Spitzkoppe Departing Windhoek you will head north toward Okahandja, and then toward Usakos where you will find the Spitzkoppe Mountain Range. The Spitzkoppe between Usakos and Swakopmund is also described as the "Matterhorn of Namibia", rising to an altitude of about 1 800 meters. There are many beautiful walks in this stunning landscape and bizarre rock formations. Bushman paintings can be found in various places, many in the "Bushman Paradise" under an overhanging rock wall. Overnight basic campsite or lodge accommodation Optional Activities: Guided walks to many Rock art sites. Guided exploration of the amazing Spitzkoppe Mountain Range, have the opportunity to interact with local Damara people. Rock climbing (please note this is only for experienced rock climbers)
Day 3 & 4 –Spitzkoppe - Brandberg Massif A challenge to rock climbers, especially at its peak Königstein, which is at 2574m the highest point in Namibia, Brandberg is also famous for the White Lady rock painting. Brandberg Intrusion is a dome-shaped plateau in Namibia. It is in the northwestern Namib Desert, near the coast, and covers an area of approximately 650 km2. The highest point is 2573m. Many significant cave paintings are located on its cliffs.Overnight camping at Ugab Wilderness Camp or in lodge accommodation Optional Activities: Guided nature walks and black rhino and elephant tracking Visit the famous “White Lady” and other rock art sites Rock climbing (only for the experienced rock climbers)Day 5 Brandberg Massif – Twyfelfontein En route to Twyfelfontein, it is possible to see desert elephant. Their huge pad marks often seen on the road indicate their presence. Further, along the route, discover 6000-year-old Khoi-San (Bushmen) paintings and engravings in the Twyfelfontein area. There are two well-marked walks; the shorter is about one hour and the longer about 90 minutes. A small entry fee is charged and a local guide accompanies you to explain the engravings. Early morning or late afternoon is best, as the midday heat can be fierce. Remember your water! Close by you also find the interesting dolerite columns that exposed by erosion have taken on an odd shape and are now referred to as the Organ Pipes. When the wind blows, the Pipes play music. The Burnt Mountain with its strange colouring is also just a couple of hundred meters away. Overnight at the Aba-Huab campsite, or in lodge accommodation. Optional Activities: Nature walks in the river bed looking for local wildlife and even desert elephant. Guided tour to Twyfelfontein, interact with the local Damara people. Enjoy traditional Damara culture (food and dance). Visit to the “Petrified Forest.”Day 6 Twyfelfontein – Sesfontein Departing Twyfelfontein you will head further north to the Kunene Region of Northern Namibia. Here you will find Sesfontein. Sesfontein, named after the ‘six springs’ that surface nearby stands in the Hoanib valley. It marks the northern edge of Damaraland. The road from Palmwag, the D3706, makes an interesting drive in a normal 2WD vehicle, and passes through a narrow gap in the mountains just before this small town. Overnight Khowarib Campsite, very basic facilities or in lodge accommodation Optional Activities: Nature walks or drives in the Hoanib River with local guide. Experience the abundance of bird life in the Hoanib River. Desert elephant roam these parts. Interact with locals.Day 7& 8 Sesfontein – Opuwo Departing Sesfontein you will head further north in the Kunene Region to Opuwo. Opuwo is the gateway to the Kaokoveld region in the northwestern part of Namibia. The remote area south of the Kunene River is the home of the Himba people, who have kept their ethnic individuality and culture in the seclusion of Kaokoland. Visit Kaoko Information Centre in Opuwo for extensive information about the region and its people. Local knowledgeable guides can be arranged for Ovahimba visits, excursions to Epupa falls, Ruacana Falls and Marienfluss Valley.Overnight Kunene Village Restcamp Optional Activities: Nature walks and bird watching in the surrounding hills Interaction with the Ovahimba peoplesDay 9&10 – Tsandi Royal Homestead Heading further north, beyond Etosha Pan you will find the land of Makalani palms, Oshanas (elongated depressions which sometimes fill with water) and traditional homesteads. Namibia's central north is blessed with a rich cultural heritage. It is the homeland of the Ovambo people, the largest population group in the country. The homestead, the core of each household, has always been the place where traditional values, customs and cultural practices are passed on from generation to generation. You can join a tour of Tsandi Royal Homestead, home of the King of the Uukwaluudhi. Overnight Tsandi Royal Homestead Optional Activities: Guided Royal Homestead tour, visit Traditional craft centre or see Traditional food and dance. By appointment meet King Shikongo Josea Taapopi or Share with local elders the tales and stories that make up the history of the Uukwaluudi tribe.
Day 11& 12 – Etosha National Park Departing the Tsandi Royal Homestead you will head south to the world famous Etosha National Park. one of the largest parks in Africa, Etosha National Park covering some 22 270km². It owes its unique landscape to the Etosha Pan, a vast shallow depression of approximately 5 000km². A series of waterholes along the southern edge of the pan guarantee rewarding and often spectacular game viewing. In exceptionally good rain years the floodwaters reach the plains and watercourses in central Ovamboland and even reach the Etosha pan.Overnight in one of the campsites in the park Optional Activities: Game viewing and birding
Day 13 – Windhoek As you continue south towards Windhoek, the last town you reach is Okahandja where you have the last opportunity to shop for native African crafts. The curios sold here are not all Namibian, but are also from neighboring countries to the north. Irrespective of this, it is worth stopping at one of the two huge wood carvers markets. Ombo Ostrich Show Ranch might also be interesting. It is also a good place for a light lunch before continuing to Namibia’s Capital – Windhoek. Spend tonight going to the world famous Joes Beer House for a spectacular meal. Overnight B&B
Day 14 – return flight. After a day at leisure, you can do your last minute shopping driving towards Hosea Kutako International Airport / Eros International to drop you car off and continue with you onward travels.
