DAY TO DAY PROGRAM: 19 days/18 nights
1st day: Johannesburg
After your arrival at Johannesburg Int. Airport, you will be transferred to your guesthouse or cottage. You meet our local representative who will explain you the details. After you acclimatised, you can explore the city or book a guided city tour, visiting historical landmarks in Johannesburg.
2nd day: After breakfast, you will be collected for the start of your guided tour to the Cradle of Humankind – a World Heritage Site. The Cradle of Humankind comprises a strip of a dozen dolomitic limestone caves containing the fossilised remains of ancient forms of animals, plants and most importantly, hominids.
Our tour takes us to the Sterkfontein caves ,the world’s richest hominid site, renowned for studies on fossilized fauna, wood and stone used in the past.Maropeng – the origins , a visitor centre in the cradle gives an insight into the history of the area and panoramic views of the cradle can be experienced. Still in the cradle, we visit either the Wonder Caves ,a natural wonder 2 200million years old or the old Kromdraai Gold mine, one of the oldest Gold mines in the reef dating back to 1881.
Optional: you can choose to go on a guided tour into Soweto, a former Township, and now a thriving City. For today, you will live the “township” life. You can listen to Kwaito; South Africa's answer to American Hip Hop and visit a local shebeen (illicit liquor bar). Visit Soccer City – Home to the 2010 World Cup final, the Hector Peterson Memorial, the homes of Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu, both Nobel peace prizewinners and other famous sites.
3rd day: Johannesburg/Soweto – Louis Trichard (Makhado) (ca. 375 km)
Today you leave the province of Gauteng and drive to Louis Trichard, situated in the Limpopo province, formerly known as Transvaal. You overnight 2 nights in a lodge which gets its name from the sacred Mashovhela rock pool, "Place where the drums beat".
4th day: Today you have the option of going on a guided local artist tour; a truly captivating experience filled with mystical forests, sacred lakes, water spirits, stunning scenery and world famous crafts. The Venda culture is steeped in the spirit world and finds expression in their woodcarvings, pottery and the decoration of their buildings.
5th day: Louis Trichard – Tzaneen (ca. 200 km)
Today you will drive one of South Africa’s most beautiful mountain passes; the Magoebaskloof. En route you can choose to visit Madi a Thavha Mountainfarm. Drive to Tzaneen, known as a cozy little town, is surrounded by beautiful fruit and tea farms. Here you overnight 2 nights.
6th day: Today you have time to explore scenic area. You can visit the quaint Tzaneen museum and the Modjadji Cycad Nature Reserve; a unique natural forest in its prehistoric state, named after the dynasty of Rain Queens, Modjadji. Visit the one of the art related projects of the Thusanang Association and have a drink inside a 6000 year old Baobab tree. You can also choose to go on an optional guided excursion to the nearby Shangaan or Pedi Village where you can meet the chief and the Sangoma; the medicine man.
7th day: Tzaneen – Hoedspruit area/Kruger Park (ca. 125 km)
Drive on to the northern part of famous Kruger National Park where you overnight 2 nights in unique and thatched Treehouse Lodges.
Luxury tour: Overnight in traditional African reed and thatch huts, in the philosophy of simplistic luxury and getting back to nature in the authentic FTTSA accredited Umlani Bushcamp, in Greater National Kruger Park. Breakfast, Dinner & Safari included.
8th day: Today you can have a wildlife experience in the Big Five territory; spot the Elephant, Lion, Rhino, Leopard and the Buffalo. For those who prefer a guided game drive in open Land Rovers, or participate in guided bush walks with rangers and trackers; these excursions can be booked via your accommodation.
9th day: Hoedspruit area–Numbi Gate /Kruger Area via Panorama route (ca. 250 km)
Today you drive via Abel Erasmus Pass and the Panorama route, with highlights as Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and God’s Window. You can visit historical gold mining city Pilgrim’s Rest. Continue in direction of Numbi gate at the boarder of the Northern part of Kruger National Park. Here you overnight 2 nights in luxurious chalets at Phumulani Lodge. Phumulani Lodge is for 100% owned by Mduli Trust; an initiative of Chief MZ Mduli’s. Experience Phumulani; an extension of tribal culture to uplift standards of living of local community trough job creation.
10th day: Today you can relax or go on optional excursion in Kruger National Park. Guided Safari’s can be booked via your accommodation.
11th day: Numbi Gate /Kruger Area – Johannesburg (ca. 450 km)
Today you continue to the nearest airport for a connecting flight to Cape Town. After your arrival at Cape Town Int. Airport, you meet our local representative who will explain you the details and transfer you to your accommodation where you will overnight. Overnight in Malebo’s B&B
12th day: Today you can book a guided township tour into Kayelitsha and visit the inspiring Philani weaver project, giving you the unique opportunity to experience township lifestyle and meet up with the locals.
Or choose to explore the Cape Area; Table Mountain, Robben Island, drive on the Cape Peninsula to Cape Point. You can choose to visit one of the many arts, crafts and community projects in the Cape Area. Alternatively, Overnight in Malebo’s B&B.
13th day: Cape Town- Knysna (ca. 575 km)
Drive via the garden route from Cape Town to Knysna a small cosy town on the lagoon with a special holiday atmosphere, where you overnight 2 nights.
Luxury tour: Overnight at FTTSA accredited Hog-Hollow country lodge; set on the edge of an indigenous forest in a private nature reserve with panoramic views of the surrounding indigenous forests, valleys and mountains.
14th day: Knysna & Tsitsikamma National Park (ca. 100km)
Today you have time to explore Knysna’s forest and beaches. You can optional join FTTSA accredited Stormsriver Adventures; a professional adventure and activity company based in the heart of the Tsitsikamma Forest, on exclusive hiking trials and excursions into Tsitsikamma National Park.
15th day: Knysna - Oudtshoorn (ca. 125 km)
Drive via route 62 to Oudtshoorn, known as the Ostrich City, where you overnight. You can see, drive and even taste these giant ostriches. You can visit a primary or high school with all different cultures of the Karoo and on Sundays you can join the locals to the “Dutch Hervormed Church”.
16th day: Knysna – Montagu (ca. 360 Km)
Today you can go on an optional excursion to the Cango Caves. Continue route 62 to the historic village of Montagu, beautifully located between fruit trees and wine estates and surrounded by mountains. Many artists and craft workers have chosen to settle in Montagu, their work is on view at the museum, the art galleries or the monthly Craft Markets held in the town. You overnight 1 night in Montagu.

17th day: Montagu – Stellenbosch (ca. 150 km)
Today you drive to ‘The Cape’. Via a variety of wine and farmland you arrive in Stellenbosch, where you overnight 2 nights. This cozy place is after Cape Town the oldest city, founded by the Dutch East Indies Company.
Luxury tour: Overnight in the village at FTTSA accredited Spier; eco-friendly establishment, simply, yet elegantly appointed in traditional country style. Embracing wine lands and an outdoor theatre.
18th day: Today you can have an enchanting Cape African experience at historic FTTSA accredited Spier in the heart of the Stellenbosch Winelands. You have the day at leisure; you can relax or shop, visit museums and wineries in the wine area Stellenbosch, Franschoek and Paarl.
19th day: Stellenbosch – Cape Town (ca. 60 km)
Today you continue to your next destination or to Cape Town Int. Airport for your flight home
